Massachusetts Clean Energy Center ADU Accelerator

When the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center announced a pilot program to encourage ADU development, we jumped at the chance to be involved. Together with Backyard ADUs and FutureLot, CPC designed and launched a three-year pilot project working directly with homeowners in the Pioneer Valley to build all-electric detached ADUs. From this program, the team will make recommendations that could accelerate ADU development across the state.

CPC's involvement in this project is three-fold:

• Support program design with expertise from our work with other ADU accelerator programs and resource centers.

• Develop homeowner-facing digital materials to support their path to an ADU.

• Assess trends and results throughout the pilot program to support recommendations.

We worked closely with our client and project partners to design the pilot program and dive into the online resource center, including assessment of ADU laws and standards in Massachusetts and creation of custom content and functionality to support the pilot program. We created site maps, wireframes, and visual mockups of the website, worked closely with the client's existing website and marketing teams, and developed the online resource center to meet strict timelines for public launch. The site walks users step-by-step through the ADU development process and connects them with a variety of resources including FutureLot's ADU Wizard, an FAQs collection, and an ADU 101 overview.
