San José Clean Energy (SJCE) is a Community Choice Energy program committed to adding renewable energy to the grid and finding solutions to improve reliability for the health of their customers and the planet. 

To inform future programs, San José Clean Energy (SJCE) sought to better understand its customers’ energy priorities and barriers, as well as what types of programs are most attractive to them.  To this end, CPC conducted a multi-pronged community engagement process, including: 

  • A multilingual survey, which received over 500 responses. The customer survey explored respondents’ perceptions of and likelihood of participating in proposed programs.  

  • Three virtual focus groups for homeowners and renters, in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Focus groups delved into customers’ experiences with home energy use, access to cooling, electrification, and SJCE programs. 

CPC then developed the San José Clean Energy Survey & Focus Group Results Report and Survey Dashboard detailing the results of the focus groups and survey, as well as key findings to inform programming.
